Tapas and Bits

Schrodinger’s Dishwasher

Living with roommates means that there is bound to be a bit of miscommunication. I ran into the issue of not knowing if the dishwasher had been run or not and dubbed the issue Schrodinger’s Dishwasher. In order to avoid eating off a dirty plate, I created a magnet that could be flipped to indicate if the washer had been run or not. All elements were completed in Procreate.

Office of the Provost Illustration

As a part of my co-op with Northeastern University’s Office of the Provost I received multiple illustration request including this one which was used for a Northeastern faculty email.

The Hands That Raised Me

I come from a large family that was very involved in my life and growing up there was never a shortage of familial love to go around. I feel very fortunate to have been surrounded by such a loving family especially in my developmental years so I wanted to pay homage in this piece to the “hands that raised me.” It’s a reflective self-portrait piece of me looking back post-childhood at the hands that have shaped me throughout my life into the person I am today.

Pull Me Apart, Put Me Back Together

This piece is about the pressures we face from those around us. It is meant to be a companion piece to “The Hands That Raised Me.”

Himamatsuri

The goal of this project was to create a poster for a cultural event that was important to us. I selected Hinamatsuri or Japanese Girl's Day as the featured event. The day is to celebrate the health and happiness of girls and is a holiday that I grew up with. Every year on girl's day special dolls are brought out. I illustrated two dolls that would be present on Hinamatsuri and did a lot of detailing in their kimonos. I also wanted to incorporate kanji into the design and the linear nature of Japanese writing was my inspiration for the typography done on this piece.
